The LFD Honor Guard is keeping busy...
Your Livonia Fire Honor Guard enjoyed representing the Livonia Fire Family at the Michigan Safety Conference on April 11th. We proudly presented Colors at the opening ceremony of the two-day event. The crowd that morning was estimated at 1,500-2,000 attendees. We also celebrated the life of fallen firefighter Gary Kreski this morning with the Mayor and representatives from the City and the Council looking on. As a treat, those in attendance today had the opportunity to witness our newest member, Firefighter Adam Pryor participate in this morning's event. The team is proud at how well Adam performed with no experience and very little time to prepare. What a positive addition to the team!
This year's event was met with bright sunshine and warm weather. The team appreciates those in attendance this morning and especially the crews that took time from their busy day to remember Gary and listen to inspiring words from Father Kevin. A scan of the crowd found dignitaries from the Mayor's office and City Council, representatives from the Fire Chief's office, the Fire Marshal's office, the Training Division, the Battalion Chief's office, Senior Captains, and for the first time, members from all five firehouses. We thank each and everyone who attended today, especially with the later start time.
The efforts of Chief Whitehead and his unwavering support of the Team cannot be overstated and we appreciate it. We thank Father Kevin for his inspiring words and his wiliness to spend his time with us after a busy Easter Week. A sincere "Thank-you" to Fire Marshal Bo for his understanding of time away from a full schedule to ensure a smooth ceremony and a shout out to Senior Inspector Greg Thomas for his efforts in recording today's event with pictures that can be found on the X-Drive.
As we look ahead, the Honor Guard Team will join with the LIvonia Police Honor Guard during Memorial Day ceremonies at Farmington and Five Mile Roads on May 27th, at 0900.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
~Phil
